Apigenin and the treatment of cancerous diseases are significantly interlinked. Apigenin has a very prominent role in the treatment, the amplification of treatments and prevention of diseases and still we are talking about such a product, which will probably never be classified as a drug.
Apigenin is such a commodity which will never be classified as a drug. The reason for this that apigenin is easily found in nature as it is a commonly occurring natural flavonoid, plant pigment, protective material for plants. Scientific articles often appear about scientists recommending apigenin products for the treatment of cancer. We have been advising this since 2007 as very substantial results can be achieved which clearly demonstrates that apigenin can be used for the widest range of cancers and nearly as efficient as chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
Does this mean that apigenin may actually replace these treatments?
We do not tend to make such pivotal statements but would rather say that apigenin perfectly compliments radiotherapy and chemotherapy. It is obvious that these combined treatments (apigenin and chemo or radiotherapy) are much more effective and prove to be more effective as well as increasing the efficacy of immunotherapy.
A number of clinical trials have shown statistically significant results. It has been shown that apigenin prevents the re-development of colon cancer and bowel polyps on operated cancer patients. Scientists therefore, despite the fact that for them its obvious that apigenin will never be classified as a drug have advised the consumption of apigenin products sourced from a reliable sources as great results and experiences have been born regards this.
What about prevention? Does apigenin play a role in prevention as well?
Of course, apigenin extracts play an important role in prevention. A lady once told me that her mother was suffering from bowel cancer and received chemotherapy and radiotherapy but she couldn't even get out of bed. This is when she started using apigenin extracts. One day the lady called her mother but she did not answer the phone. She was very worried, wondering what might have happened to her. When she finally managed to reach her it turned out that her mother had gone on a trip whilst not that long ago she couldn't even move. And this is only one of many, we know of numerous similar experiences. You can feel the improvement in the quality of life of the patient and in their condition when they use apigenin and medicinal mushroom extracts. What’s interesting is that officially science has only just discovered medicinal mushrooms and apigenin only just and started recommending it for cancer patients.
The most common question is; “Why? What does apigenin do in the body?”
The answer is simple; the same as chemotherapy - kills cancer cells. Apigenin is able to increase the efficiency of immunotherapy but along side this has numerous action mechanisms.
Medicinal mushroom therapy is a type of immune therapy as it has in immune regulatory effect so its combined use with apigenin can have a specifically beneficial effect on the body.
Apigenin primarily interferes at the growth factor level of the body, which controls the development of cell growths and proliferations or controls the functioning of the stem cells. These growth factors may play a significant role regarding the spread of cancers. If it does not work properly it help metastasis, which patients most frequently die from as often it is not the primary tumour which eventually leads to the death of the patient. It is these growth factors that are partly responsible for the formation and metastases and blood vessels that supple the tumour cells with nutrients. If the immune system does not recognise the cancer cells then growth factors surround the tumour cell in large quantities so the immune cells do not receive them and thus the stem cells remain in an immature stage. If they do not recognise the tumour cells they cannot signal other cells that this cell has to be attacked. Apigenin however, selectively inhibits the growth factors surrounding the tumour cells exactly where it should. The effects of those drugs developed for this are not selected and therefore they inhibit growth factors everywhere, which can be just as damaging and can have serious side effects. However, when using apigenin this is not the case and therefore no side effects occur.
In what form should we consume apigenin? What is the recommended amount needed for prevention?
Apigenin exists in a capsule form as well. Cancer prevention effects have been observed at 20-mg in clinical trials. However, what we can observe is that the effect is multiplied when this is mixed with other flavonoids. We haven't only observed drastic improvements with bowel cancer, we must point out that even with melanoma. Melanoma is extremely difficult to manage, it doesn't really respond to conventional therapies. However, with the use of apigenin melanoma suddenly improves and the disappearance of metastases is observable which for this type of cancer is one of the rarest characteristics. Apigenin is such a plant pigment that can be extracted not from mushrooms but vegetables, fruits and plant essence. Watermelons, cantaloupe, celery and many other plants contain large amounts of apigenin flavonoid.
We often recommend the use of apigenin in the summer period as well as it acts as a kind of an internal sunscreen protecting our skin from the inside. It prevents the penetration of harmful UV rays while retraining the positive effects of vitamin D.
